SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate Claire Ann Gulley on the occasion of her election as Youth Governor of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program; and

WHEREAS, Claire Gulley, a junior at Sesser-Valier High School, was elected to reside over the 76th General Assembly of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program on March 21, 2025, becoming the fifth female youth governor in the program's history; and

WHEREAS, Claire Gulley has been a dedicated participant in the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program for the past two years, during which she has worked to promote thoughtful debate, legislative innovation, and collaboration among her peers; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her contributions to the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program, Claire Gulley has demonstrated unwavering commitment as an active member of her school's student council, National Honor Society, Outdoorsmen Club, FFA, Scholar Bowl, band, chorus, cheer team, and golf team, further showcasing her leadership capabilities; and

WHEREAS, Claire Gulley has also demonstrated academic excellence and a passion for policymaking, law, and governance, using her knowledge and skills to advocate for meaningful change within her school and community; and

WHEREAS, Claire Gulley will serve as Youth Governor of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program until the 77th General Assembly in March 2026; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Claire Ann Gulley on her election as Youth Governor of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Claire Gulley as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
