HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Joyce "Mae Joyce" (Faulkner) Anderson-Farris of Peoria, who passed away on February 3, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris was born to Sam and Cenilious (Petty) Faulkner in Scotts, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris previously worked at the Workforce Development Office before serving as a dedicated bus driver for Peoria District 150 for many years, retiring in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris committed to her faith at a young age and was a charter member of New Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she served as an usher; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris was an avid reader, a devoted watcher of soap operas and game shows, and a great storyteller; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris served as a pillar of strength, wisdom, and boundless love; her life was a testament to faith and unwavering kindness; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family more than anything; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Hattie B. Mason, Ida Mae Bryant, Willie Sam Williams, Corine "Nell" McClain, Augusta "Snook" Faulkner, and Curtistine Young; and her brothers, E.B. Faulkner, Douglas Faulkner, Grover Faulkner, and Roosevelt Faulkner; and

WHEREAS, Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael J. Farris; her daughters, Kecia (Reverend Demetrius) Randle, Trinka Anderson, and Jalisa Anderson; her brother, Wardell "Ward" (Willielean) Faulkner; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her godson, Tyne Bryson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Joyce "Mae Joyce" (Faulkner) Anderson-Farris and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mae Joyce Anderson-Farris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
