| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of John D. Rogers of Topeka, who passed |
| 4 | | away on November 27, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers was born to John David and Virginia |
| 6 | | (Stennett) Rogers in Peoria on January 8, 1948; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Limestone High School in 1966; he then served in the U.S. |
| 8 | | Navy in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968; he married Kathryn Lynn |
| 9 | | Wooding on March 16, 1990; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers held many jobs throughout his life, |
| 11 | | working for Keystone Wire and Steel and the Federal Warehouse |
| 12 | | Companies, including serving as a truck driver through Allied |
| 13 | | Van Lines; he also worked as semi driver for a local farmer; |
| 14 | | his final position was as a cashier at County Market in Havana; |
| 15 | | and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers was a lifetime member of VFW Post |
| 17 | | #6408 in Havana and a retired member of the Teamsters union; |
| 18 | | and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers lived life to the fullest and had |
| 20 | | many hobbies, including listening to music, dancing, and |
| 21 | | singing; he was an avid flat track motorcycle racer throughout |

| 1 | | his younger years, and he enjoyed motorcycles and classic |
| 2 | | cars, having more than a few over the course of his life; he |
| 3 | | made a homemade go-kart track in his yard in 2020, and he rode |
| 4 | | his go-kart, mini bike, and dune buggies almost every day; his |
| 5 | | favorite pastime was being with family and friends, laughing |
| 6 | | and smiling and enjoying life; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers was preceded in death by his parents |
| 8 | | and his sisters, Caroline Joanne Wood and Betty Hanson; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Rogers is survived by his wife of 37 years, |
| 10 | | Kathy; his children, Sierra (Jake) Trainer and Andrew Rogers; |
| 11 | | three grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Greg (Jonni) Wooding |
| 12 | | and David Wood; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 15 | | John D. Rogers and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 17 | | further |
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of John Rogers as an expression of our |
| 20 | | deepest sympathy. |
