    AN ACT to amend the  Hospital  Licensing  Act  by  adding
Section 6.18.

    Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5.  The Hospital  Licensing  Act  is  amended  by
adding Section 6.18 as follows:

    (210 ILCS 85/6.18 new)
    Sec.  6.18.   Instruction on Heimlich maneuver to mothers
of newborns.  As part of the process of discharging a newborn
infant, a hospital  may  provide  the  infant's  mother  with
material  prepared and provided by the Department instructing
the mother on how to properly perform the  Heimlich  maneuver
on  the  infant.   The  hospital  shall  answer  the mother's
questions regarding the maneuver.

    Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
becoming law.
