Allows certain members of the county department of corrections to purchase up to 3 years of service credit for periods spent on leave of absence to serve as an officer of an employee association serving police or corrections officers. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) The fiscal impact should be minor, as only a small number of persons are likely to qualify to purchase the service credit. Also, the employee is required to make the employee and em- ployer contributions (as determined by the Board of Trustees), plus interest from the date of service to the date of payment.
