   20 ILCS 505/5.25 new                                                        
   305 ILCS 5/5-23 new                                                         

        Amends the Children and Family  Services  Act  and  the  Illinois      
   Public  Aid  Code.  Provides  that  if  (i)  a  hospitalized  child is      
   dependent upon a ventilator to support breathing  and  that  child  is      
   medically ready for discharge from a hospital but does not have a home      
   environment  ready  to  support his or her medical needs and (ii) that      
   child is a ward of the Department of Children and Family  Services  or      
   is a recipient of Medicaid, then the Department of Children and Family      
   Services  or  the  Department of Public Aid must continue to reimburse      
   the hospital for the care provided to the child at the  same  rate  at      
   which  the respective department reimburses the hospital for inpatient      
   services.                                                                   
          FISCAL NOTE (Department of Children and Family Services)             
          The legislation creates a fiscal impact of approximately             
          $100,000 per year for either DPA or DCFS.
