KRAUSE. 35 ILCS 5/213 new Amends the Illinois Income Tax Act. Provides for an income tax credit, for taxable years ending on or after December 31, 2002, for a volunteer public safety officer in the amount of $500 or the taxpayer's income tax liability, whichever is less. To obtain the credit the volunteer public safety officer must file with the Department proof of the volunteer capacity of the public safety officer. Provides that not more than one credit may be claimed per tax return. Exempts the credit from the sunset provisions of the Act. Effective immediately.
