 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Regina Harris, who passed away on March 3, 2001; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Regina  Harris,  or  "Poochie"   as   she   was
 6    affectionately  known,  was  born on January 10, 1958 in East
 7    St. Louis to Cleo and Samuel Harris; and

 8        WHEREAS, Regina Harris attended school in East St. Louis,
 9    Illinois and received an associate's degree from Metropolitan
10    Community College; and

11        WHEREAS, Regina  Harris  was  employed  by  the  Southern
12    Illinois University at Edwardsville's St. Joseph's Head Start
13    Center; and

14        WHEREAS,  Regina  Harris  was  actively  involved  in her
15    children's lives; she was  an  active  participant  in  their
16    school   activities   and  made  certain  that  they  enjoyed
17    themselves and saw the  world  beyond  their  front  door  by
18    taking them on frequent vacations; and

19        WHEREAS, The passing of Regina Harris will be deeply felt
20    by  all  who  knew  and  loved  her, especially her children,
21    Janviere, J'Vein, and Jarrion; her parents, Cleo and  Laverne
22    Harris-Bennett;   her  siblings,  Sharon  (husband,  Matthew)
23    Knuckles, Gay  Harris,  Reponza  (husband,  Derrick)  Vaughn,
24    LaJuanda  (husband,  Carl)  McIntosh,  Robbyn (husband, Kirk)
25    Brown, Elke (husband, John II) McIntosh,  Adrienne  (husband,
26    Arther)  Howard, and Kimberlye, Tyra, TyRhonda, Pia, Karando,
27    Myshoska, and Mattie Harris; her stepbrothers,  Noble  (wife,
28    Delores)  Bennett  and  Andrew  (wife,  Nicole)  Bennett; her
29    stepsisters, Valencia and Denise Bennett; her uncles, Johnnie
30    and Henry Birge and  Rubbin  and  Howard  Harris;  her  great
31    uncle,  John  Agnew; her six nephews; her fifteen nieces; her

 1    one great niece; and a host of other relatives  and  friends;
 2    therefore, be it

 3        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
 4    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
 5    all  who  knew  her,  the  death of Regina Harris of East St.
 6    Louis, Illinois; and be it further

 7        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 8    presented  to  the  family  of Regina Harris with our sincere
 9    condolences.
