1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1917, Lions Clubs
3 International members have volunteered time in their
4 communities to helping humanitarian causes; and
5 WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International has become the world's
6 largest service club organization with 1.4 million members in
7 more than 44,500 clubs in approximately 185 countries and
8 geographical areas; and
9 WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International members continue their
10 commitment to community service through many local efforts,
11 as well as through international programs; and
12 WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International continues to
13 celebrate, among new and long-standing members, their proud
14 legacy and commitment to helping others; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
17 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the 28th day of each
18 April, commencing the 28th day of April, 2001, is hereby
19 proclaimed as Lions Clubs Worldwide Induction Day; and be it
20 further
21 RESOLVED, That the members of the Illinois General
22 Assembly join the citizens of the State of Illinois in
23 appreciation and celebration of Lions Clubs International
24 members for their many contributions throughout the world.
