1 AN ACT concerning vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 adding Section 16-106.5 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/16-106.5 new)
7 Sec. 16-106.5. Violation by person under the age of 18
8 years; notice to registered owner. If a traffic citation is
9 issued for a violation of this Code to a person under the age
10 of 18 years who is not the registered owner of the vehicle
11 named in the traffic citation, the law enforcement agency
12 that issued the traffic citation shall, within 10 days after
13 the traffic citation is issued, send notice of the issuance
14 of the traffic citation to the registered owner of the
15 vehicle. The notice must include:
16 (1) the date and time the violation was alleged to have
17 been committed;
18 (2) the location where the violation was alleged to have
19 been committed;
20 (3) the name of the person cited for committing the
21 alleged violation;
22 (4) the violation alleged to have been committed; and
23 (5) the date and time of any required court appearance
24 by the person cited for committing the alleged violation.
25 Section 99. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
