 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  were saddened to learn of the death of Frank
 4    Juzang, Jr. of Chicago on October 19, 2002; and

 5        WHEREAS, Frank Juzang, Jr. was born in Chicago on January
 6    21, 1926 to Frank and Camille (Tessie) Juzang; and

 7        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Juzang  graduated  from  Drake  Elementary
 8    School and Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago; he served
 9    in the  United  States  Army  during  World  War  II  an  was
10    honorably discharged as a Private First Class in 1946; and

11        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Juzang  was  a  born  businessman  who had
12    successful careers in  both  insurance  and  exporting;  from
13    1964-1979,  he  was an insurance agent for MetLife and one of
14    the  first  African  American  sales  managers  of  a   major
15    insurance  company  in  the United States; he retired in 1979
16    from MetLife to pursue his interest in exporting; and

17        WHEREAS, In 1978, he and his friend, Olufequri Durojaiye,
18    founded an export supply business; the two  partners  ran  it
19    successfully   until   1989;  during  the  operation  of  his
20    exporting business Frank traveled extensively in  Africa  and
21    visited over ten African countries; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Juzang's  engagement  in  civic activities
23    included being a founding member of the board  of  the  Human
24    Resource  Development Institute, and a member of the board of
25    South Central Community Services; in addition,  he  loved  to
26    join  his  friends  at  the  Friday  Breakfast  Group, and he
27    enjoyed playing golf for over 50 years; and

28        WHEREAS, Mr. Juzang had a wonderful spirit about life and
29    lived it to the fullest; he  loved  his  life,  friends,  and
30    family;  he had grace, warmth, and deep convictions; he had a
31    wonderful sense of humor and an appreciation for building and

 1    sustaining relationships with others; and

 2        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by all who  knew
 3    and  loved  him,  especially  his wife of twenty-seven years,
 4    Doris L. Juzang;  his  two  daughters,  Deidre  Robinson  and
 5    Pamela  Carthan;  his  two  sons-in-law, Clifford Carthan and
 6    Rodney Robinson; his four grandchildren, Blake Carthan, Kelly
 7    Carthan, Brennan Robinson, and Maia Robinson; and many family
 8    and friends; therefore, be it

 9        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
10    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11    we mourn the passing of Frank Juzang, Jr., along with all who
12    knew and loved him, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13    family and friends; and be it further

14        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
15    presented to the family of Frank Juzang, Jr.
