 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The backbone of our nation's economy  is  rooted
 3    in  the  success  of small businesses that employ millions of
 4    Americans and keep our people working and prosperous; and

 5        WHEREAS, Among those millions of small  businesses  is  a
 6    company   located  in  Streator,  Illinois,  known  as  Metro
 7    Amusements,  itself  employing   18   hard-working   Illinois
 8    citizens who contribute mightily to the local economy; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Metro  Amusements  is  owned  and  operated  by
10    Raymond Shroyer of Plano, a longtime small businessman who is
11    known  throughout  his community and the State of Illinois as
12    an upstanding citizen who contributes to the moral as well as
13    economic fabric of his community; and

14        WHEREAS, Mr. Shroyer has long been recognized  throughout
15    Illinois  as  one  of  the  most conscientious members of the
16    industry known as coin machine entertainment  operators,  and
17    who  has  earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues
18    and peers throughout the State; and

19        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Shroyer's  influence  as  owner  of  Metro
20    Amusements since 1984 has grown  regionally  and  nationally,
21    and  that  influence, admiration, and respect has also earned
22    him honor among  his  colleagues  and  peers  throughout  the
23    United States; and

24        WHEREAS,  To  honor  Mr.  Shroyer's  contributions to the
25    industry, "Play Meter" magazine, the nation's  largest  trade
26    publication  in  the coin machine industry, named Mr. Shroyer
27    as  the  industry's  "Operator  of  the  Year"  in  2002   in
28    recognition of his contributions in the coin machine industry
29    as well as his community; and

30        WHEREAS,  Since  there  are  more than 8,000 coin machine
31    operators in business throughout the United States, the honor

 1    of "Operator of the Year" is indeed unique  and  exceptional;
 2    therefore, be it

 3        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 4    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 5    we extend to Raymond Shroyer  our  heartiest  congratulations
 6    and  best  wishes upon the auspicious occasion of being named
 7    the coin machine industry's "Operator of the Year for  2002,"
 8    and be it further

 9        RESOLVED,  That a copy of this resolution be presented to
10    Raymond Shroyer and his wife, Diane, as an expression of  our
11    esteem.
