 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The United Faith Missionary  Baptist  Church  of
 3    Winnebago  County,  Illinois  was  chartered  on February 15,
 4    1978,  by  the  Reverend   Willie   L.   Scott   along   with
 5    approximately 200 members; and

 6        WHEREAS,  The  first  service  at United Faith Missionary
 7    Baptist Church was held on February 19, 1978,  at  2717  West
 8    State Street; and

 9        WHEREAS,  In  March 24, 1978, the United Faith Missionary
10    Baptist Church was officially organized by Dr.  J.B.  Felker,
11    Jr.,   moderator   of   the   Greater  Era  Baptist  District
12    Association; Reverend Willie L. Scott was retained as  pastor
13    by  unanimous  vote,  with  249 members; under his leadership
14    United Faith moved to 111 Royal Avenue; and

15        WHEREAS, In 1982, Reverend Scott left and Reverend Eugene
16    Hardin was elected as pastor;  under  his  leadership  United
17    Faith  moved  from  111 Royal Avenue to 4426 Virginia Avenue;
18    and

19        WHEREAS, In 1988, Reverend Reginald Haywood  was  elected
20    as pastor of the United Faith Missionary Baptist Church; and

21        WHEREAS,  On  November  24,  1989,  God  saw fit to bless
22    United Faith  with  another  leader,  the  Reverend  John  N.
23    Coleman;  under  his  leadership the church continued to grow
24    and move forward and several changes  and  improvements  were
25    made in and around the church; Reverend Coleman fought a good
26    fight,  but  his  health  failed  and  God called him home on
27    February 1, 2000; although United  Faith  hearts  were  heavy
28    with  their loss, they continued to keep the faith and prayed
29    for God to send them a leader to complete their vision; and

30        WHEREAS, On December 17, 2000, United Faith prayers  were
31    answered with the arrival of its new leader, the Reverend Dr.

 1    L.D. Tate; and

 2        WHEREAS,  The  United Faith Missionary Baptist Church has
 3    continued  its  mission  of  winning  souls   and   educating
 4    Christians for the past twenty-four years; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED,  BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-
 6    SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE  OF  ILLINOIS,  that  we
 7    declare February 10, 2002 as "United Faith Missionary Baptist
 8    Church Day" in honor of 24 years of dedication and service to
 9    the residents of Winnebago County; and be it further

10        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
11    presented to the Reverend Dr. L.D. Tate as an  expression  of
12    our esteem.
