1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize notable achievements
4 in sports in the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Lansing
6 East 12-year-old Little League Baseball Team recently won the
7 2001 Illinois Little League State Championship; and
8 WHEREAS, The Lansing East 12-year-old Little League
9 Baseball Team went on to become District 6 Champion and
10 Section 3 Champion and earn third place honors at the Great
11 Lakes Regional Tournament; the team made Lansing history by
12 advancing farther than any other team; and
13 WHEREAS, The team members are Joe Erickson, Chris
14 Vermeulen, Nick Carr, Brandon Funtall, Brett Houston, Joe
15 Rizzi, Tom Zelasko, Jeff Booker, Justin Deckinga, Glenn
16 Durocher, Jeromy Turturillo, and Josh Albright; their manager
17 is Vince Rizzi; their coaches are Frank Kiefor and Rick
18 Furmanek; and their scorekeeper is Ray Nommensen; therefore,
19 be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate the Lansing East 12-year-old Little League
23 Baseball Team on winning the Illinois Little League State
24 Championship; and we extend our best wishes to the coaches
25 and players for continued success; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
27 presented to manager Vince Rizzi, coaches Frank Kiefor and
28 Rick Furmanek, and to each member of the team as an
29 expression of our esteem.
