 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Bettye Wehrli  was  presented  with  the  annual
 3    "Woman  of  the  Year"  award by the Naperville branch of the
 4    American Association of University Women on May 5,  2001,  in
 5    honor  of  her  remarkable  contributions  to  the Naperville
 6    community during a period that spans three decades; and

 7        WHEREAS, Bettye Wehrli served as  co-chairperson  of  the
 8    first  Little  Friends  Benefit  Auction  25 years ago, was a
 9    member of the first Naper Settlement Museum Board, and served
10    on the Bicentennial Committee to restore Naperville's Central
11    Park in 1976; and

12        WHEREAS, Service to the Naperville Heritage  Society  has
13    been  a  theme  throughout her ongoing volunteer efforts; she
14    has been the chairperson of  the  Heritage  Society  Antiques
15    Show,   chairperson  of  the  Heritage  Society  Dinner-Dance
16    fundraiser, and, for three years, chairperson of the Heritage
17    Society House Walk; and

18        WHEREAS, Bettye Wehrli was among the leaders  who  helped
19    to  create the first phase of the Naperville Riverwalk, which
20    is now a community landmark; and

21        WHEREAS,  Presently  employed  as  community  liaison  of
22    Neuqua Valley High School, Bettye Wehrli is a member  of  the
23    Exchange  Club,  the  Naperville  Area  Chamber  of  Commerce
24    Education  Committee, and Central Area Naperville Development
25    Organization; she is a trustee of the  Naperville  Libraries;
26    and

27        WHEREAS,  Bettye  Wehrli  is  a  volunteer coordinator of
28    Illinois historic  tours;  she  is  a  board  member  of  the
29    Naperville Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago; and

30        WHEREAS,  As  a wife and mother, Bettye Wehrli has set an
31    example of achieving an ideal  balance  between  serving  her

 1    family and community concurrently; and

 2        WHEREAS,  Cheerful and compassionate as a friend and as a
 3    community leader, Bettye  Wehrli  has  inspired  one  of  her
 4    long-time  friends to observe, "Wherever in Naperville anyone
 5    finds things bright and  beautiful  or  wise  and  wonderful,
 6    there is Bettye Wehrli"; therefore, be it

 7        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 8    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 9    we congratulate Bettye Wehrli on the receipt  of  the  annual
10    "Woman  of  the  Year  Award" by the Naperville branch of the
11    American Association of University Women; and be it further

12        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
13    presented to Bettye Wehrli.
