 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Every Rotary Club in the  world  can  trace  its
 3    lineage  at  least  indirectly  back  to  1905;  Paul  Harris
 4    developed  an idea that sparked not just an organization, but
 5    a movement that currently spans the globe with more than  one
 6    million members on six continents; and

 7        WHEREAS,  Homewood  joined the movement in 1936 when Bill
 8    Michaels, Chicago Heights Rotarian and Governor of the former
 9    District 40, Chuck Alexander, Sid Lee, and the Reverend  W.H.
10    Taylor  helped  bring  the Rotary Club to Homewood, Illinois;
11    and

12        WHEREAS, The members of the  Homewood  Rotary  Club  have
13    provided  a  dedicated  service  in  an effort to improve the
14    community; and

15        WHEREAS,  The  Homewood  Rotary  Club  is  involved  with
16    financial or physical  support  with  the  following  groups,
17    organizations,  and services: the Award winning annual Health
18    Fair  in  conjunction  with  Ingalls  Hospital,  the  Audobon
19    Society,  the  Cancer  Support  Center,  the  Family   Health
20    Society,  the  Glenwood  School  for  Boys, the Homewood Fire
21    Department,  Healing  Racism,  Homewood  Baseball,   Homewood
22    Senior  Citizen  I.D.  Bracelet  Program, the Jones Community
23    Center,  PADS,  Snowball,  Snowflake,  the   South   Suburban
24    Recreation Association, and VOSH; and

25        WHEREAS,   The   Homewood  Rotary  Club  provides  annual
26    scholarships to Governor's State  University,  Prairie  State
27    College,  and  to graduates of Homewood Flossmor High School;
28    and

29        WHEREAS,  The  Homewood  Rotary   Club   is   active   in
30    international efforts such as the Argentina Eye Care Project,
31    supplying  medical equipment for health clinics in Argentina,

 1    and supporting the Literacy Project in Cusco, Peru; and

 2        WHEREAS, Through their dedication and  service  to  their
 3    community,  the  members  of  the  Homewood  Rotary Club have
 4    profoundly improved the way of life  both  in  the  State  of
 5    Illinois and abroad; therefore, be it

 6        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 7    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 8    we honor  Homewood  Rotary  Club  for  their  dedication  and
 9    service  to the citizens of the State of Illinois and abroad;
10    and be it further

11        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
12    presented  to  the  members  of  Homewood  Rotary  Club as an
13    expression of our esteem.
