1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are
3 pleased to honor milestones in the lives of citizens of the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Knudsen of Glen Ellyn, Illinois will
6 be retiring this year after 35 years of teaching; and
7 WHEREAS, Dr. Knudsen has taught Technology Education
8 (drafting, woods, and graphic arts) at Fenton High School in
9 Bensenville, Illinois for the past 31 years; and
10 WHEREAS, Dr. Knudsen has been president and has served on
11 the board of directors of the Illinois Industrial Technology
12 Association and the Illinois Association for Career and
13 Technical Education, he was appointed by Governor George Ryan
14 to sit on the HRIC/IWIB Board to represent secondary
15 educators, and he has been a member of the Coalition for
16 Quality Vocational Education; and
17 WHEREAS, Many schools have called on Dr. Knudsen to be an
18 advisor, consultant, and guest speaker to promote career and
19 technical education, and Dr. Knudsen has been to Washington,
20 D.C. several times to lobby for funds for career and
21 technical education; and
22 WHEREAS, Dr. Knudsen has been recognized many times for
23 his accomplishments and his commitment to his students, his
24 school, and his profession, including being named Technology
25 Teacher of the Year from Illinois and Illinois Drafting
26 Teacher of the Year, being an Illinois Industrial Technology
27 Education Association's Concidines recipient, being selected
28 for Who's Who of American Teachers 3 times, and belonging to
29 several honor societies; therefore be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate Dr. Richard Knudsen on his retirement after
2 35 years of teaching and wish him well in his future
3 endeavors; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Dr. Knudsen.
