1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the history of organizations of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that St. Anastasia
6 Parish in Waukegan, Illinois, is celebrating its 75th
7 anniversary in April, 2001; and
8 WHEREAS, St. Anastasia Parish was founded in April of
9 1926 when Father John Fleming was sent to Waukegan by George
10 Cardinal Mundelein to undertake the building of a new church
11 on the northern fringe of the town; and
12 WHEREAS, Father Fleming and the first group of
13 parishioners were welcomed by the Sisters of the Holy Child
14 Jesus as they celebrated mass on the grounds of the Holy
15 Child High School while the new church was under
16 construction; in 1927, St. Anastasia Church and School were
17 completed and dedicated in October of 1927; and
18 WHEREAS, St. Anastasia Parish's welcoming spirit has
19 become tradition for seventy-five years as a faith community
20 serving its parishioners and students; its tradition
21 continues today through a dedicated ministry to its children,
22 to the hungry, the homeless, and the troubled; and
23 WHEREAS, St. Anastasia is proud of the few original
24 parishioners that are still with the parish today, and the
25 100 or more of its school alumni that are also members of the
26 parish; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan, Illinois,
30 on the celebration of its 75th anniversary; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to St. Anastasia Parish as an expression of our
3 esteem.
