1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives
4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Roger K. Ankley celebrated his retirement from
6 the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 150
7 on March 23, 2001; and
8 WHEREAS, Roger Ankley was born on June 6, 1935; he is a
9 graduate of Waukegan High School; from 1952 to 1956 he served
10 his country in the United States Air Force; and
11 WHEREAS, Roger Ankley was initiated as a member of the
12 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1959; he
13 served as President of IBEW Local 150 from 1967 to 1983; and
14 served as the Chairman of the Trust Committee and as Business
15 Manager and Financial Secretary; and
16 WHEREAS, Roger Ankley served as a Delegate to the Lake
17 County Building Trades and the Northeastern Illinois
18 Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO; he was the Chairman of the
19 Labor Management Cooperation Committee; he was a member of
20 the Executive Board of the State IBEW Conference; he was a
21 delegate to International IBEW Conventions in 1978, 1986,
22 1991, and 1996; and
23 WHEREAS, In addition to his work with the IBEW, Roger
24 Ankley is a member of the Waukegan Yacht Club, attaining the
25 rank of Commander in 1983; he is also a member of the
26 Waukegan American Legion Post 281; and
27 WHEREAS, Roger Ankley will enjoy his retirement
28 surrounded by his family and friends, especially his wife,
29 Barbara Blomstrom Ankley; his children, Roger (wife, Pam),
30 Julie, and Wendy (husband, Sam); his grandchildren, Jeff,
31 Kristan, Samantha, Alex, Allison, Kelly, Kevin, and Ryan; and

1 his brother and sister, George Ankley and Arlene Ankley Hill;
2 therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we congratulate Roger Ankley on his retirement from the
6 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 150,
7 and wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Roger Ankley.
