 1        AN ACT making appropriations.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The amount of $2, or so much of that amount as
 5    may  be  necessary,  is appropriated from the General Revenue
 6    Fund to the State Board of Education for a program to provide
 7    bonuses to new fully certified teachers who agree to teach in
 8    a school on the academic watch list or in a critical  teacher
 9    shortage discipline.

10        Section  10.  The amount of $2, or so much of that amount
11    as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
12    Fund to the Board of Higher Education for a program in  which
13    public  institutions  of higher education would waive tuition
14    for students enrolled in a course of study leading to teacher
15    certification who agree to teach in a school on the  academic
16    watch list.

17        Section  15.  The amount of $2, or so much of that amount
18    as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
19    Fund to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission for a loan
20    forgiveness program for students  enrolled  in  a  course  of
21    study  leading to teacher certification who agree to teach in
22    a school on the academic watch list.

23        Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on July
24    1, 2002.
