 1        AN ACT in relation to elections.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Election  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 5    Section 29C-10 as follows:

 6        (10  ILCS  5/29C-10)  (from Ch. 46, par. 29C-10; formerly
 7    Ch. 46, par. 812)
 8        Sec. 29C-10.  Terms of Senators in each  group.  Senators
 9    shall  be elected from districts in each group of legislative
10    districts on the dates and for terms as follows:
11        First group - 2002 1992 and 2006 1996 for 4  years  each,
12    and in 2010 2000 for 2 years;
13        Second  group  -  2002  1992 for 4 years, 2006 1996 for 2
14    years, and in 2008 1998 for 4 years; and
15        Third group - 2002 1992 for 2 years, and in 2004 1994 and
16    2008 1998 for 4 years each.
17        All 59 Senators, one from each of the 59 districts, shall
18    be elected at the first general election  of  representatives
19    next occurring after each decennial redistricting.

21        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
22    becoming law.
