 1        AN ACT in relation to municipal government.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Illinois Municipal  Code  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 8-11-1.2 as follows:

 6        (65 ILCS 5/8-11-1.2) (from Ch. 24, par. 8-11-1.2)
 7        Sec.   8-11-1.2.    Definition.    As  used  in  Sections
 8    8-11-1.3,  8-11-1.4  and  8-11-1.5  of  this   Act,   "public
 9    infrastructure"  means  municipal  roads  and streets, access
10    roads, bridges, and sidewalks; waste  disposal  systems;  and
11    water  and  sewer  line  extensions,  water  distribution and
12    purification facilities, storm water drainage  and  retention
13    facilities, and sewage treatment facilities.  For purposes of
14    referenda  authorizing the imposition of taxes by the City of
15    DuQuoin under Sections 8-11-1.3, 8-11-1.4,  and  8-11-1.5  of
16    this  Act  that  are  approved  in  November,  2002,  "public
17    infrastructure" shall also include public schools.

19        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
20    becoming law.
