VEH CD-DRIVER TRAINING SCHOOLS                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that public schools or      
   educational  institutions  may  not  contract  with  driver   training      
   businesses  that  are not licensed by the Secretary of State. Provides      
   that an applicant for a license to operate a  driver  training  school      
   must  provide a continuous surety bond in the principal sum of $50,000      
   (now $10,000). Provides that in addition  to  other  requirements,  an      
   applicant  for  a  license  to  operate  a driver training school must      
   authorize an investigation of his or her background by  the  Secretary      
   of State's Office. Specifies the manner in which information developed      
   by   the   investigation   is   to   be  used  in  order  to  preserve      
   confidentiality. Provides that any employee of the Secretary of  State      
   who disseminates confidential information in an unauthorized manner is      
   guilty  of a Class A misdemeanor. Provides that the applicant shall be      
   responsible for paying all related fingerprint fees.   Effective  July      
   1, 2000.
