Short description: 
MENTAL HLTH-INVOLUNTARY ADMIT                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Mental Health  and  Developmental  Disabilities  Code.      
   Provides  that  a  law  enforcement  officer  may  execute  a petition      
   asserting that another person is  subject  to  involuntary  admission.      
   Provides  that  if  the court finds that the petition is in order, the      
   court shall order that the respondent be admitted to a  State-operated      
   mental  health  facility  for a minimum of 45 days.  Provides that the      
   facility shall cause the respondent to be  examined  separately  by  2      
   psychiatrists   during   that  45-day  period.   Provides  that  if  a      
   psychiatrist executes a certificate certifying that the respondent  is      
   subject  to  involuntary  admission, the certificate shall be promptly      
   filed with the court and the  court  shall  proceed  with  a  hearing.      
   Provides  that  if  no  such  certificate  is  filed within the 45-day      
   period,  the  facility  shall  immediately  thereafter   release   the      
   respondent.
