Allows a member to establish service credit for certain periods of employment prior to becoming a member without paying interest, if application and payment in full are made before January 1, 2001. Also makes technical changes. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) The fiscal impact of SB 1235 cannot be determined, as it de- pends on the number of employees who elect to purchase the ser- vice credit. According to SERS, there are 8,486 members with one year of outstanding waiting period service and 48,841 mem- bers with six months of outstanding waiting period service.
