House Sponsors: TURNER,JOHN Short description: CIV PRO-SERVE PROCESS-DETECTIV Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the "Civil Practice" Article of the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that upon motion and in its discretion, the court may appoint as a special process server a private detective agency certified under the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, and Locksmith Act of 1993. Provides that under the appointment, any employee of the private detective agency who is registered under that Act may serve the process. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Replaces the provisions added by the bill with the same provisions, adding them as a new subsection.
