Senate Sponsors: LUECHTEFELD-CLAYBORNE Short description: NEUTRAL SITE CUSTODY EXCHANGE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Neutral Site Custody Exchange Funding Act. Provides that in judicial circuits that include a county with a population over 100,000 and under 1,000,000, the county board may establish a neutral site custody exchange fund, funded by fees charged to parties in civil cases and administered by the chief judge of the judicial circuit. Requires the chief judge to make grants from the fund to one or more not-for-profit organizations for the purpose of implementing a neutral site custody exchange program. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Replaces references to judicial circuits with references to counties. Replaces references to the Chief Judge of a judicial circuit with references to the county board, and removes the provision for administration of a neutral site custody exchange fund by the Chief Judge.
