Short description: 
ILL CAREER SCHOLARSHIP ACT                                                 

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the Illinois  Career  Scholarship  Act.   Establishes  an      
   Illinois  Career  Scholarship  program,  to  be  administered  by  the      
   Illinois  Student  Assistance  Commission, whose purpose is to provide      
   high school  students  not  seeking  a  baccalaureate  degree  with  a      
   financial  incentive  to  pursue  alternative  post-secondary training      
   opportunities.  Provides that an  Illinois  Career  Scholarship  is  a      
   $1,000  non-renewable  award that may be applied only toward a program      
   certified  by  the  Illinois  Workforce   Investment   Board   or   an      
   occupational or vocational program certified by the Illinois Community      
   College  Board,  the  State Board of Education, or the Board of Higher      
   Education.  Requires the Illinois  Student  Assistance  Commission  to      
   conduct an evaluation of the program by April 1, 2004.  Effective July      
   1, 2000.
