House Sponsors: SILVA-HOWARD-STROGER-DELGADO-FLOWERS AND HARRIS. Short description: WAGE PAYMENT-DAY LABORER Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act. Provides that an employer who has been ordered by the Director of Labor or a court to pay wages due a day laborer and who fails to do so within 15 days after the order is entered is liable to pay a penalty of 10% per calendar day to the day laborer for each day of delay in paying the wages up to an amount equal to twice the sum of unpaid wages due the day laborer, plus reasonable attorney's fees, and that the employer is also liable to pay an additional penalty of $5,000 to the Department of Labor.
