SCH CD-DISCIPLINE-ALT SCHOOL                                               

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the School Code.  Provides that if a school board adopts a      
   zero tolerance discipline policy, the  policy  must  explicitly  state      
   minimum and maximum penalties for infractions. Requires a school board      
   to  make  public  information  regarding school discipline by race and      
   gender. Requires  (instead  of  allows)  an  expelled  student  to  be      
   immediately  transferred  to  an  alternative  school  program, if the      
   program is available.  Effective July 1, 2000.
