House Sponsors: RYDER. Senate Sponsors: DILLARD Short description: CLERKS CTS-FEES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Clerks of Courts Act. Provides that in counties having a population of 180,000 inhabitants or less, interest earned on any funds held by the clerk must be deposited in the county general fund as earnings of the office of the clerk. Provides in those counties, the clerk's fee is $25 for any check, draft, or other bank instrument returned to the clerk for nonsufficient funds, account closed, or payment stopped. Provides that in counties of over 650,000 but less than 3,000,000 inhabitants, the clerk's fee is $2 for each exemplification, plus the fee for certification. Provides that in counties over 180,000 but not more than 650,000 inhabitants, the clerk may deduct from each child support or maintenance payment an amount equal to United States postage to be used in mailing the maintenance or child support check to the recipient.
