Short description: 
ELDER ABUSE-FINANCL EXPLOITATN                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends  the  Elder  Abuse  and  Neglect   Act.    Provides   that      
   "exploitation  of  an  eligible adult's financial resources" includes,      
   but is not limited to, exploitation caused by or  resulting  from  the      
   provision   of   financial   advice,  planning  or  consultation,  tax      
   assistance, or other financial services.                                    
          FISCAL NOTE (Department on Aging)                                    
          Program costs would increase by more than $1.4 million.              
          CORRECTIONAL NOTE, H-AM 1 (Department of Corrections)                
          No fiscal or prison population impact on DOC.                        
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          320 ILCS 20/2                                                        
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          720 ILCS 5/12-19                from Ch. 38, par. 12-19              
          720 ILCS 5/12-21                from Ch. 38, par. 12-21              
        Deletes the title  and  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.      
   Amends  the Criminal Code of 1961.  Increases from a Class 3 felony to      
   a Class 2 felony the penalty for abuse of a long  term  care  facility      
   resident.   Increases  from  a Class 4 felony to a Class 3 felony  the      
   penalty for gross neglect of  a  long  term  care  facility  resident.      
   Increases  from  a Class 3 felony to a Class 2 felony  the penalty for      
   criminal neglect of an elderly or disabled person.
