HUMAN RIGHTS-TIME PERIOD TOLL

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Illinois Human Rights Act. Provides that a request
for review tolls the relevant time limitation for all allegations of
the charge. Amends provisions relating to procedures to be followed by
the Department of Human Rights in handling charges (other than charges
alleging violations of the Real Estate Transactions Article). Provides
that the Department shall send to the complainant, no later than 30
days before the expiration of specified time limits (rather than no
later than 335 days after the date on which the charge was filed), a
second notice of the complainant's right to file a complaint with the
Human Rights Commission. Provides that the Department may (rather than
shall) conduct a fact finding conference.
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
Restores provisions making fact-finding conferences mandatory.
