CIV PRO-LIMITATION-SURVEYORS                                               

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends  the  Code  of  Civil  Procedure.   Deletes  all  existing      
   provisions imposing time limitations  on  actions  against  registered      
   land  surveyors,  and  inserts  language  providing that an action for      
   damages against a professional land surveyor must be brought within  2      
   years  after  the person bringing the action first knew or should have      
   known of the basis for the action; except that (i) the action is            
   barred if 5 years or more have elapsed since the person claiming the        
   damage first knows of the basis for the action; and (ii) if the person      
   entitled to bring the action is under the age of 18 or under legal          
   disability, the period of limitation does not begin to run until the        
   person reaches 18 years of age or the disability is removed. Makes          
   other changes. Effective January 1, 2000.                                   
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Changes the period after which an action is barred from  5  years      
   to 10 years.
