House Sponsors: SCOTT. Short description: SPECIAL SERV AREAS PRIVATE RDS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Special Service Area Tax Law in the Property Tax Code. Provides that if at least 30% of the roads in a municipality are not owned or controlled by a governmental unit and those roads provide access to emergency vehicles, then 51% of the property owners may approve the formation of a special service area for repair, maintenance, and reconstruction of those private roads. Provides that if at least 30% of a privately owned or maintained lake recreation area within an unincorporated area is not controlled by a governmental unit, then 51% of the property owners may approve the formation of a special service area to maintain the lake area.
