House Sponsors: MURPHY. Short description: PEN CD-IMRF-MILITARY SERVICE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Article of the Pension Code. Allows retirees to receive up to 24 months of credit for military service not preceded by employment upon payment of the corresponding employee and employer contributions. Requires employer approval. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) The impact of HB 2368 cannot be determined as the number of re- tirees who will purchase the military service credit is un- known. For some retirees, the employee contributions required by HB 2368 may not cover the entire cost of the purchased mili- tary service credit.
