Provides in the Section concerned with the mileage weight tax option that a surety shall be liable and, upon notice from the Secretary of State that the registrant has failed to pay the excess mileage fees, the surety shall immediately pay the fees and any penalties and interest. Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Transportation) This bill will have no direct fiscal impact. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Further amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to remove the provision that the liability of the surety under a Section concerned with the mileage weight tax option shall be absolute. Provides that the penalties, fees, and interest that a surety may be required to pay shall not exceed the limits of the $500 bond.
