Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Code of Civil Procedure.  Makes stylistic changes in a      
   Section concerning construction of the Code.                                
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          735 ILCS 5/1-106                                                     
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          New Act                                                              
          40 ILCS 5/18-127                                                     
          735 ILCS 5/2-1009A                                                   
        Deletes everything. Creates the Small Claim Alternative Disposi-       
   tion Act. Authorizes the Supreme Court to appoint referees, who must        
   be licensed attorneys, to hear small claims cases if all of the par-        
   ties consent and none of the parties are represented by an attorney.        
   Provides for compensation for the referees from the Mandatory Arbi-         
   tration Fund. Amends the Judges Retirement System Article of the            
   Pension Code to provide that a retired judge who serves as a small          
   claims referee for not more than 75 working days in a calendar year         
   is not deemed to be regularly employed for the purpose of the Article.      
   Amends the Civil Practice Article of the Code of Civil Procedure to         
   authorize compensation to small claims referees from the Mandatory          
   Arbitration Fund.
