Short description:
CUSTODY-TEMP SUPRVISD VISITATN

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act.
Provides that a court may not restrict a parent's visitation rights
unless it finds that the visitation would "endanger" (now, "endanger
seriously") the child's health. Provides that the court may enter an
order for temporary supervised visitation if the court finds, after a
hearing, that it is in the best interest of the child. Provides that
the temporary supervised visitation order shall last from 6 to 18
months, may include an order that the non-custodial parent receive
treatment or take other corrective measures, and shall be reviewed
upon its expiration, at which time the court shall enter another
temporary supervised visitation order or a permanent visitation order
or terminate visitation. Changes the provision denying visitation for
a person convicted of any offense involving an illegal sex act
perpetrated upon a victim less than 18 years of age while that person
is incarcerated or in various stages of criminal supervision after
incarceration and until that person receives treatment after release
to include those convicted of a violent felony and those convicted of
a sex offense against a person of any age. Provides that if the court
finds that a person has chronically failed to comply with a visitation
order, the court shall revoke the visitation rights granted if it is
in the best interest of the minor child.
