Short description: 
SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATN-NOTICE                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Sex Offender Registration Act.   Changes  the  penalty      
   from a Class 4 felony to a Class 3 felony for a person who is required      
   to  register  as  a  sex  offender  who  knowingly  or wilfully  gives      
   material information required by the Act that is false. Amends the Sex      
   Offender and Child Murderer Community Notification Law.  Provides that      
   sex offender information must be made available, free of  charge,  for      
   public  inspection to any person, no later than 72 hours or 3 business      
   days from the date of the request. Provides that the request  must  be      
   made   in  person,  in  writing,  or  by  telephone.    Provides  that      
   availability includes giving the inquirer access to a  facility  where      
   the  information  may  be  copied.   Provides that an inquirer must be      
   allowed to copy  the  information  in  his  or  her  own  handwriting.      
   Permits  the  sheriff  or municipal police department to charge a fee,      
   not exceeding the actual costs of copying the  information.   Provides      
   that  the  sheriff or municipal police department must allow access to      
   the  information  during  normal  public  working   hours.   Effective      
   immediately.
