Short description: 
SCH CD-LONGER SCHOOL TERM                                                  

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the School Code.   Beginning  with  the  1999-2000  school      
   year,  increases  both  the  minimum length of the school term and the      
   minimum  number  of  days  of  actual  pupil  attendance  by  5  days.      
   Effective immediately.                                                      
          FISCAL NOTE (State Board of Education)                               
          There will be no fiscal impact at the State level. Total es-         
          timated cost to school districts is $225 million to $250             
          million annually.                                                    
          STATE MANDATES NOTE (State Board of Education)                       
          No change from SBE fiscal note.
