        Creates the Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act.  Provides for      
   the Act to be administered by the Department on  Aging.   Permits  the      
   development  and  operation  of  assisted  living  and  shared housing      
   establishments  for  senior  citizens.   Assisted  living  and  shared      
   housing  establishments   provide   residential   accommodations   and      
   specified  services  to  seniors.   Certain  services including meals,      
   housekeeping, security, and necessary assistance  with  activities  of      
   daily  living  must  be provided.  Requires all housing to be provided      
   pursuant to contract.  Establishes minimum staffing levels.   Requires      
   facilities  to be licensed and establishes license requirements.  Sets      
   forth penalties for  violations.   Creates  the  Assisted  Living  and      
   Shared  Housing  Advisory Board to advise the Director of Aging in the      
   administration of the Act.  Creates the  Assisted  Living  and  Shared      
   Housing  Regulatory  Fund.   Requires the Department on Aging to study      
   and report the effects of the Act upon the availability of housing for      
   seniors. Amends the Illinois Act on the Aging to include assisted liv-      
   ing and shared housing establishments in  the Long Term Care Ombudsman      
   Program.  Amends the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act  and  the      
   Nursing  Home  Care  Act to exclude assisted living and shared housing      
   establishments from the scope of those Acts.  Amends the  Health  Care      
   Worker  Background  Check Act, the Alzheimer's Special Care Disclosure      
   Act, and the Abused and Neglected Long Term  Care  Facility  Residents      
   Reporting   Act   to   include  assisted  living  and  shared  housing      
   establishments within the scope of those Acts.  Effective  January  1,      
   2001 except that provisions relating to the Assisted Living and Shared      
   Housing  Advisory  Board  and  powers  and duties of the Department on      
   Aging take effect upon becoming law.                                        
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Provides that a long-term care facility may elect to  retain  its      
   Certificate  of  Need  for  sheltered  care beds converted to assisted      
   living use.  Excludes facilities licensed under the Hospice Program         
   Licensing Act  from  the  scope of the bill.  Provides that medication      
   must be administered by a  licensed  health  care  professional.            
   Limits the powers of the Assisted Living and Shared Housing Advisory        
   Board. Removes provisions exempting licensees under this Act from the       
   Nursing Home Care Act.  Also makes technical changes.                       
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                
        Provides that notice required to be given to residents regarding       
   termination of a resident's residency in an establishment may be            
   waived when there is imminent danger of death or serious physical           
   harm to the resident, not when there is merely an emergency situation.
