SCHOENBERG-BEAUBIEN-GASH-SILVA-MCKEON AND ERWIN. (OBAMA) 305 ILCS 5/4-1.12 305 ILCS 5/9A-4 from Ch. 23, par. 9A-4 Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall not count months in which the adult receiving assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program is the primary caregiver for a child in the assistance unit under the age of 6 and is employed and earning income, or engaged in self-employment for an average of 20 hours per week. Provides that the Department shall not require a recipient who is the primary caregiver for a child in the assistance unit under the age of 6 to participate in the education, training, and employment program more than 20 hours each week. Effective immediately. STATE MANDATES NOTE (Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs) Does not create a State mandate. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Human Services) Amounts spent on TANF grants in out years would increase.
