NOVAK. 40 ILCS 5/1-120 new Amends the General Provisions Article of the Pension Code. Provides a mechanism for employer pickup of optional employee contributions to a retirement system other than the one in which the employee is actively participating. Applies only to retirement systems that (i) are authorized by statute to allow pickup of optional employee contributions within the system and (ii) adopt a rule providing for participation. Requires a compliance ruling from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Effective immediately.
