 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Richard M. Gin, who passed away on December 19, 2000; and

 5        WHEREAS, Richard M. Gin was born on  March  29,  1931  to
 6    Arthur  and  Lee Toy Gin; he was Aurora's first Chinese baby;
 7    and

 8        WHEREAS, Richard M. Gin was a life-long resident  of  the
 9    east  side of Aurora where he graduated from East High School
10    in 1949; he served his country  in  the  United  States  Army
11    during   the  Korean  War;  and  afterwards,  he  earned  his
12    bachelor's degree from Lewis University in 1962; and

13        WHEREAS, After college, Richard's desire to be a business
14    owner  led  to  his  many  ventures,  including  Aurora  Door
15    Service, from which he retired in 1992; he continued to  work
16    on  several  of  his  own  real  estate  projects  after  his
17    retirement; and

18        WHEREAS,  During  his  life,  Richard held memberships in
19    many organizations as a gesture to his community,  and  these
20    included:  being  an  active member of the First Presbyterian
21    Church, serving on the boards of God's Gym, City in  Schools,
22    Urban  Youth  Ministries  and  the  McGowan Gin Rosica Family
23    Foundation; he is also a life member of the East High PTA and
24    received the  Urban  Youth  Ministry  "Eagle"  Youth  Service
25    Award; and

26        WHEREAS,  The  passing  of  Richard M. Gin will be deeply
27    felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 40
28    years, Mary Alice; his  children,  Sherilyn  (husband,  Phil)
29    Kingsbury,  Calvin  (wife,  Jennifer)  Gin,  Sue  Kazakis and
30    Connie (husband,  Mark)  Perez;  his  grandchildren,  Jaclyn,
31    Kerri and Allison Kingsbury; and his sisters, Sue Gin McGowan

 1    and Soon Ho (husband, Harry) Kazakis; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
 3    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
 4    all  who  knew  him,  the  death of Richard M. Gin of Aurora,
 5    Illinois; and be it further

 6        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 7    presented to the family of Richard M. Gin.
