 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of former United States Congressman Timothy Patrick  Sheehan,
 5    who recently passed away; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Timothy Sheehan was born to Irish immigrants in
 7    Chicago; he was a graduate of Northwestern University and the
 8    owner of two  businesses,  Swedish  Food  Products,  and  the
 9    Silver Brook Beverage Company; and

10        WHEREAS,  Timothy  Sheehan  served as the chairman of the
11    board and president of  Peerless  Federal  Savings  and  Loan
12    Association; and

13        WHEREAS,  Timothy Sheehan began his career in politics at
14    an early age, serving as the Republican committeeman  in  the
15    41st  Ward  in  the 1940s; from 1950 to 1958 he served in the
16    United States Congress;  during  his  term  he  served  on  a
17    committee  investigating the massacre of Polish army officers
18    in the Katyn forest during World War II; and

19        WHEREAS, Timothy Sheehan went on to serve as chairman  of
20    the Republican Central Committee of Cook County in the 1960s;
21    and

22        WHEREAS,  The  passing of Timothy Sheehan will be felt by
23    all  who  knew  him,  especially  his  wife,   Marilyn;   his
24    daughters,  Eileen,  Mary  Celeste, Kathleen, and Sheila; his
25    nine grandchildren;  his  two  great-grandchildren;  and  his
26    sister, Helen; therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
28    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
29    all  who  knew and loved him, the passing of Timothy Sheehan;
30    and be it further

 1        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 2    presented to the family of Timothy Sheehan.
