 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of
 4    Martin "Marty" Rogers, who recently passed away; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Martin  "Marty" Rogers was born in Taylorville,
 6    Illinois on September  16,  1925;  his  parents  were  Martin
 7    Joseph and Helen Poli Rogers; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Martin  "Marty"  Rogers  was  a  veteran of the
 9    United States Marines, serving in World War II in the Pacific
10    Theater and China; and

11        WHEREAS, He was an employee  of  Miller  Home  Appliance,
12    until  his  purchase  of the business in 1948, when it became
13    known as  Rogers  True  Value;  he  owned  and  operated  the
14    business all his adult life; and

15        WHEREAS,  In  1947   he  married  Marjorie  E.  Miller in
16    Carlinville; he was member of Toastmasters International, Guy
17    Baird American Legion Post 554, the  Carlinville  Chamber  of
18    Commerce,  and  the  Carlinville  Lions  Club,  where  he was
19    presented with the  Melvin  Jones  Fellow  in  1993;  he  was
20    Carlinville  Citizen of the Year in 1997 and was an organizer
21    of the Macoupin County Veterans Memorial; and

22        WHEREAS, Martin "Marty" Rogers is survived by  his  wife,
23    Marjorie;  his  sons,  David  (Grace),  M.J. (Marihelen), Jim
24    (Jane), and Robert (Dena); his  six  grandchildren;  his  two
25    great-grandchildren;   and  his  stepmother,  Mildred  Smith;
26    therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
28    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29    all that knew him, the death  of  Martin  "Marty"  Rogers  of
30    Carlinville, Illinois; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to the family of Martin "Marty" Rogers.
