 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Joseph P. Wall of  Chicago  and  formerly  of
 4    Park Ridge on Sunday, April 9, 2000; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Wall,  who  died  at  the age of 75, was a
 6    graduate of Marmion Military Academy in Aurora;  he  enlisted
 7    in the United States Army in 1943 and was a staff sergeant in
 8    Europe until the end of World War II; and

 9        WHEREAS,  He  followed  in  his  father's  footsteps, who
10    served as an advertising manager for the Chicago Tribune, and
11    worked in the classified department for the  Chicago  Sun  in
12    the   mid-1950s;  he  was  the  department's  national  sales
13    manager; and

14        WHEREAS, Mr. Wall worked on the West Coast  for  a  while
15    but  returned  in the 1960s to work on magazines; in 1972, he
16    opened  Joseph  P.  Wall   &   Associates,   an   advertising
17    representative  firm he operated from his home in Park Ridge;
18    he served as the advertising  representative  for  magazines,
19    including  the Saturday Review, the Architectural Digest, and
20    the Dallas Home & Garden; and

21        WHEREAS, In the 1980s, Mr. Wall  went  to  work  for  the
22    Public Broadcasting Service; he retired in 1995; and

23        WHEREAS,  The  passing  of  Joseph P. Wall will be deeply
24    felt by his family and friends, especially his  wife,  Shari;
25    his  sons,  Joseph, Jr. and Terrence; his daughters, Virginia
26    Robertson,  Barbara  Weymouth,  Kathleen  Schultz,   Marianne
27    Majerus,  and Nancy Juckett; his seven grandchildren; and his
28    five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

29        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST  GENERAL
30    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
31    and regret the death of Joseph P. Wall and extend our sincere

 1    condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

 2        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 3    presented to his widow, Shari Wall.
