 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of James J. Cizek, longtime owner of The  Squire
 4    Shop of Hinsdale, on Wednesday, December 8, 1999; and

 5        WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago and graduated from Morton
 6    East High School; he also attended the University of Chicago,
 7    where  he  was  a  member  of  Phi  Kappa  Psi fraternity and
 8    graduated with  a  bachelor's  degree  in  philosophy  and  a
 9    master's degree in business administration; and

10        WHEREAS,  He  was a veteran of the United States Army and
11    was assigned to Tokyo to serve as a records clerk of the  5th
12    Army; and

13        WHEREAS,  He opened a menswear business, The Squire Shop,
14    in Hinsdale; the business grew and moved to the corner of 2nd
15    and  Washington  Streets,  where  it  continued   until   his
16    retirement five years ago to resume his painting career; and

17        WHEREAS,  Over  the  years,  he  attended  classes at the
18    Chicago Art Institute and studied several years with Hinsdale
19    artist Martin Pribil; he was a student of Impressionism,  and
20    his work was exhibited several years at the Art Barn North in
21    New Buffalo, Michigan; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Cizek's paintings were part of "The Art of
23    Giving" promotion of the Hinsdale Center for  the  Arts;  for
24    almost  twenty-five  years,  he  co-chaired The Hinsdale Fine
25    Arts Festival; and

26        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt  by  his  family
27    and  friends,  especially his wife, Dolores; his son, Robert;
28    his daughter, Deborah Smith; and his stepsisters, Mary  Alyce
29    Beckett and Charlotte Andres; therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL

 1    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note  with  sorrow
 2    and regret the death of James J. Cizek and extend our sincere
 3    condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 5    presented to his widow, Dolores Cizek.
