1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Jess G. "Jerry" Dowers, of Decatur,
4 Illinois, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Jess Dowers was born on August 25, 1929, in
6 Decatur, Illinois; he was the son of Jess Granville and Alice
7 Gladden Dowers; and
8 WHEREAS, Jess Dowers served his country as a medic with
9 the United States Air Force during the Korean War; and
10 WHEREAS, Jess Dowers married Dora Lee Travis on January
11 15, 1948, in Bethany, Illinois; he retired from the Wabash
12 Railroad after 10 years, and retired as owner/operator of
13 Dowers Motor Sales in 1998, after working in the automobile
14 business for 52 years; and
15 WHEREAS, Jess Dower is survived by his wife, Dora Lee
16 Dowers; his son, Gary R. (Donna) Dowers; his daughters, Mrs.
17 Greg (Tanya) Kenworth, Mrs. Robert (Sheree) Poulos, and Mrs.
18 Will (Michele) Jackson; his brother, William Dowers; his
19 sisters, Betty Flenner and Eloise Geise; his 11
20 grandchildren; and his 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be
21 it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
23 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
24 all that knew him, the death of Jess G. "Jerry" Dowers, of
25 Decatur, Illinois; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to the family of Jess Dowers.
